YEAR 1 : FOUNDATIONS OF MEDICINEFirst year courses focus on knowledge of structure and function of human biology, critical thinking skills, and the management of medical information. A 2-week intersession provides opportunity for electives in medical humanities. COURSES : * Gross Anatomy * Histology * Human Embryology * Neurosciences * Biochemistry & Medical Molecular Genetics * Medical Physiology * Evidence Based Medicine * Human Behavior I * Principles of Clinical Medicine I * Integrated Medical Problem Solving YEAR 2 : HEALTH & DISEASE Second year courses address the understanding of diseases, including pathophysiology and therapy of diseases and form a bridge of basic information leading directly into the clinical portion of the curriculum. Passage of USMLE Step 1 is a requirement for advancement. COURSES : * Medical Microbiology & Immunology * Patients, Physicians & Society: Clinical Ethics * Human Behavior II * Pharmacology * Introduction to Human Illness * Principles of Clinical Medicine II * Integrated Medical Problem Solving YEAR 3 : CLINICAL CLERKSHIPS All students are required to take core clerkships in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Neuroscience, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. Students may choose to take their core clerkships either on the Oklahoma City or Tulsa campus. COURSES : * Medicine * Surgery * Obstetrics & Gynecology * Pediatrics * Psychiatry * Family Medicine * Geriatrics * Neurology * Integrated Clinical Topics YEAR 4 : AMBULATORY, COMMUNITY MEDICINE & ELECTIVES The fourth year students have a required general medicine ambulatory care experience, a rural preceptorship under the guidance of a physician in a small Oklahoma community; and 6 months of clinical electives. Students have opportunity to experience five specialty electives taken in third or fourth year. USMLE Step 2 is required.
